Morrowind Screenshot Thread
« on: April 05, 2009, 10:31:25 AM »
Oh, don't look so surprised. You knew it was coming. It won't be as busy here as in the Blivie thread, but there has to be someplace to stick those MW screenshots that don't relate to anything in particular. At least I think so. Of course, I think a lot of strange things.

 Anyhow, here's Yuri.

She's Nakan, from Westly's Exiles of Akavir race mod, which I enjoy. Tons of really nice Asian Akaviri faces and hairs, plus a couple of thousand Japanese Akaviri style kimono-robe things. Yuri doesn't have any of those at the moment. It's a new game, and she hasn't visited Vivec yet, where they sell them.

Seyda Neen.

"Jeez, what a shithole."

Off to Balmora. Morrowind doesn't have MMM, but it has Morrowind Comes Alive, which in many ways is even more brutal. On reaching the town, Poor Yuri was attacked by a whole bunch of footpads and bandits, and when that was over...

  BATS!

Eleven freaking bats. I counted them.

Any more?

Yes, there were. And another footpad.

And then there's the obligatory visit to Caius Cosades, Skooma King of the Secret Service.

ADD YOUR OWN CAPTION HERE.

Vvardenfell, land of left handed archery, and nice Red Dragon bows.

"F**kin cliff racers..."

Here's an interesting factoid: I have the item ID's of almost everything in Silver's DBNRD mod memorized. I probably should just fill up a chest in the Census Office with the stuff, but typing is good for me.  ;D

Tiens, voilà du boudin...

Of course, Yuri will go through 942 makeovers before the MQ is over, and then some.

I have no idea why the Knights Templar are in Vvardenfell, but they are.

"Holy Grail? Is that what you're wearing on your head?"

And yes, I have Children of Morrowind installed. Because I can.

"Keep moving, punk."

I have just about everything in my Morrowind. Abot's birds and water life, MCA, all my house mods and everybody else's, Balmora expansion, some other expansions, all kinds of junk. I wander around and get surprised all the time, because I have no idea what the hell I put into the game. And I don't think there's a single bit of MW that still has vanilla textures anymore. Darknut's armor and clothes, weapons too I think, different people's architecture, landscapes, clutter, creatures, tapestries, everything. Better bodies and 8 million head and hair packs. Vivec and Almalexia. Don't ask which replacers, since most of them don't have .esp files, and I can't keep track. Plus I'm constantly putting new ones in. Depends what mood I'm in.

Then there's LGNPC . I use all of 'em, including the Less Generic Nerevarine, which isn't official LGNPC, but it's by their guy Ostar, who rightly figures that the full version is still a long time off.

Did I mention Tamriel Rebuilt maps 1 and 2? Yeah, I did somewhere. Well, I got those too. :turnhappy:

You memorized all the ID's?? Huh...better than me: I don't remember most of the stuff I put in the mod. I surprise myself constantly. :-[

(I wonder...pure speculation, mind you...if that bow can be converted for Oblivion. Zyndaar [sp?] did that, I think...still better than most bows I've seen for OB. What's this Morroblivion thing? Maybe I should run the exe, just to find out what it does...)

I don't know what I have installed, either. However, I do know that I don't have MCA at the moment (brutal), since I prefer the sparse, lonely feeling of Vvardenfell with its occasional encounter (on a relevant note, I have no cliffracers in my game, and most of the animals are passive). Quite unlike the lush sparseness of Cyrodiil, which screams for nine million imps and their fetid variations to swarm me, causing me to ragdoll down a hill and land with a humiliating splash in the Niben.

Actually, that'd be pretty cool. Why didn't they make that possible??

Anyway, I found this of interest; when I get the time, I'm going to look into this a bit more.

Exiles of Akavir, eh? Interesting...so interesting, in fact...

Whatsername. She'll likely undergo a million changes as well...

I thought there was more I was going to babble about, but... :sleepy2:

MCA can be tough. I use the "more guards" .esp, so when I'm attacked in town I can usually just run away and let the guards turn the bandits or whatever into ground chuck. I mean, they're civil servants, that's their job. A few times in the wilderness I've been aided by wandering patrols. The wilds aren't much of a problem though, I made an .esp a long time ago called "Happy Guars" which makes every undiseased  creature happy to see me, or something. I do have cliff racers, and they're hostile, but I enjoy archery so it works out.
I made a file for Solstheim too, it even mellows out the Rieklings. They just sit on their pigs and wave as I go by.

So, I was looking through my modding folders on an old disc and I found something I'd made called "New Statues" (actually it said "New Ststues" but I got the idea. Bad typing day ). Being an adventurous sort I stuck it in my game, and started seeing  things like this:

Kind of like something William Randolph Hearst would put on his porch. The Imperials are tasteless boors, simple as that.

("They're not tasteless" said the Orc, "They taste like chicken!")

I have no idea where I got the resource from. I only have some meshes and textures and an .esp I threw together two years ago, according to the date on it. I can't remember where I placed them ingame, so I'll have to wander around and be amazed.

I was in Ilunibi on official Nectarine business and ran into an old friend.

We had a chat, it was nice, but I couldn't stay too long since I had an appointment to get infected with Corprus Disease. :sickbay:

 The fun never ends. :xlaugh:

This bat thing is getting ridiculous.

17 bats at once in the Urshilaku Camp. And more later when I came back. I stopped counting after a while. Mammals shouldn't have wings. It's wrong.

Meanwhile, I'm going through Westly's Nakan faces like a monk goes through porn. I wonder if all this face changing is causing Yuri much pain?

"All this face changing is causing me much pain."

At least it keeps her mind off the bats.

Oh, no...it's THAT woman!  :o   Well...you got bats, she's batshit...makes perfect sense, really. :ok:

Okay, yes: technically, she wasn't quite as nutty fifteen years prior to the Oblivion Crisis -- oh, so two or three scamps come out of a giant flaming gate and it's a "crisis"?? Just spray 'em with Raid and get back to work already, ya slacker bastards! -- but she was nutty enough for MW. Any more and she would've been somewhat inhospitable.

Had I known then what I know now, I wish I had made a Khovian race just for her.  :hammerhead:  But...I admit that I probably would have made her a Lowlander when she's actually of Easterner stock, and that would have haunted me like every other misstep I've made between these mods. (Hint: Khovians aren't really descendants of Akaviri humans -- in fact they aren't really from around here at all -- but they look like them, or so I theorize, and they tell everyone who asks, just so the inquisitive bastards leave them the hell alone.) So I guess making her a "Breton" was the right thing to do.

Glad I got that cleared that up. :P

I see. Glad that's cleared up. Not that I take anything she tells me as gospel. Besides, I never remember much about Ilunibi anyway. It's the fumes. "What happens in Ilunibi stays in Ilunibi", as they say.

   Yuri #973:

With Westly, you always get a lot of heads. Please notice I said "heads", with an "s". I really don't want any misunderstandings here.

So, facially renewed, the Main Quest goes onwards. And in some cases upwards.

"That's cool. How do you do that? Is that like, zen ? 'Cause I've been kind of studying, but I can't do that."

(And all the time I marvel at how much better the Morrowind MQ is than that pathetic thing in Oblivion. Lots to do, all kinds of interesting people and factions, history, depth, where in OB it's just go here, go there, get that, kill stuff, and listen to insipid dialog. Then you get a pat on the butt from Ocato and some crappy armor.Console pablum for the kiddies.)

   Speaking of meeting interesting people...

   ;D

And in the end, there's the lovely Azura.

Facelift by the ubiquitous Westly, courtesy of his Azura Statue and Creature Replacer  Never play without it. I mean it, really, don't. The defaults are too hideous to ever see more than once.

Dagoth Ur is defeated, the skies over Red mountain are blue, Morrowind is saved, and our overworked and many faced hero needs a drink. A stiff one. Maybe more than one. And some soda bread. Fortunately, I got that covered.

"Hmmm...an Irish place. They better not have "Celtic Woman" on the jukebox. Or "Celtic Thunder" either. If they do, someone dies."

It's no picnic being the Nectarine, nossir.

I must apologize to the folks at Morrowind Comes Alive.

I was blaming MCA for all the incessant and annoying bat attacks I've been having. Well, it turns out MCA is not to blame. It's Abot's Where Have all The Birds Gone. Odd, since bats aren't birds. But there you go.

I suppose screenshots are in order.

 MW Yuri threatens her fireplace:
"Bad fireplace! Bad!"

I made a Dunmer. I want to play through the LGNPC Pax Redoran thing, and it's better when you're a Dunmer. Everyone still considers you Outlander scum, but at least you're blue.

      Andalin:
"I am blue."

Hair needs work.

I've been playing a lot of MW lately. I have tons of things in OB to take care of, but for some reason I'm finding Vvardenfell to be very comforting. I still have PTSD from Fallout 3.

EDIT:

That's better, for now. Things change.

Well, my Redoran Dunmer Andalin has changed again, which is her privilege, I suppose.

I've been playing a lot of MW lately. I may be the only one here who does, but I'll keep posting anyway, because I have fingers. And we do tend to get visitors here

I'm playing the LGNPC Pax Redoran mod (and everything else LGNPC has to offer), which is very good, and fleshes out this particular House quite nicely. House Redoran and Telvanni are my favorite Houses, bitter foes though they be. Which is one of the reasons Oblivion sucks, no Great Houses. Screw lore, it's just laziness and dumbing down on Bethesda's part. "Lets not give the fanboys too much stuff to trouble their little maggoty brains with." I mean, look, Redoran and Telvanni are expansionist Houses, which is one of the reasons they're always at each others throats. They would definitely have a presence in Cyrodiil. Freakin MicroBeth. I hope Todd Howard gets a bad scratch on his Porsche.

Speaking of heads, or not, Westly has been working on a new hi-res NPC head replacer . He's leaked the Nords and Orcs as a preview of sorts, for which I am grateful, although not grateful in ways that could affect my economic status or cause me to question my sexuality. Even if both those things are somewhat ephemeral these days.

    Nords!

"Don't worry, I'm still a bitch."

These really have to be seen in game to be appreciated. I forgot to take any Orc shots, sorry, but take my word for it, they look good too. Honest.

Since Andalin finished her long haul through Pax Redoran, I decided to yank Grania back into MW for some general freebooting and troublemaking.

I has two swords.

A sword on the back is a nice fashion statement, but she likes to maim things with her trusty old Red Dragon cutlery.
