"The Sacrifice" Comic
« on: September 18, 2010, 08:20:13 AM »
As promised, Valve has released part one of their four-part comic highlighting the upcoming Left 4 Dead DLC "The Sacrifice". The comic follows the story of the original survivors following their rescue by the military at the end of Blood Harvest and will end leaving the fate of one of the survivors in your hands for the DLC.

Part 2 comes out on September 21st, and the actual DLC comes out for L4D and L4D2 on October 5th.

Part 2 is out, and it's looking REALLY good! The flashback sequence follows Zoey this time, but the plot mostly deals with the interactions between the original survivors and a military strike force testing for the "carriers" we learned about in L4D2. An option has been added to download chapters as PDF for high-quality reading at home.

Part 3 is out on the 29th, and the finale comes out the DLC October 5th.

Part 3 is now officially out! (A day early! Why can't Valve get their games out on that schedule? ;) ) A little backstory for Francis, and some insight into Bill's mentality.

Oh, and zombies and gore and death. But you expected that.
"Choice one: we flank them using what military men called tactics, and what religious men call divine inspiration. Or, we charge at them head on screaming various obscenities, in what military men call bravery and religious men also call divine inspiration."

I'll be around, although we'll have to see if anyone can actually play the thing when the servers fill up with fans downloading updates for both L4D and L4D2. I'm debating holding off on the whole thing until the dust settles and any fixes are ironed out, we'll have to see.

But the weekend, on the other hand? Hells, yes. :smoking:

Not sure if everybody caught this, but there's now an "Extras" page on the comic site where you can download the PDF versions of the comics and new wallpapers. Think I might go with part 3's cover image for a while.... ;D

The final part of the comic is out, but for some reason they haven't updated the link on the comic website, so you can link directly to it here. I assume no one has fixed it because they're too busy playing the update (or downloading en masse and keeping me from finishing the download for L4D1 alone) to notice that anything's wrong.
