Deep in the middle of SR3, and I really miss SR4 right now.

SR:GooH...that *had* to be intentional.

My major issues with SR3 are: Brutes, escort missions, Brutes, the Snatch missions, Brutes, pretty much any mission with a timer or someone that needs protecting, and Brutes. Plus, watching as WWIII unfolds whenever some enemy gang member dies as part of a side mission.

For example: an "easy" Snatch mission, where I'm supposed to recruit 7 ho's (lovely.); wipe out the "abusive pimps" and recruit the ho's. Kill one Morningstar, and I got three stars immediately. Snipers in choppers, road blocks, and then: Brutes.

:ss-sparkly Fun! :ss-sparkly

I've seen all kinds of advice given about how to get through these dumbass missions, but it all comes down to me, punching the desk, howling "I hate this game, I hate this game, I hate this game..."

So I guess I'm really not enjoying it all that much. Fortunately, I am not the 100% completion type, so it doesn't bother me if ignoring the worst parts of the game makes me ineligible for all the achievements.

There are a couple of workarounds for the problems I face, so I am not in full-on despair mode yet. I save that for Facebook, whenever one of my cousins post a gruesome pic or clip of someone with a mangled foot or a botched tattoo-related massive infection or something that makes me want to go live in a cave somewhere without internet access. I remember one happy week where I refused to update Flash because my browser automatically blocked all the insta-play videos due to it being out of date...

But beside all that.

If I were to suggest some changes to a rework of VTMB:

- Better balancing between the first two acts; the Santa Monica segment is far too reliant on social skills, and Downtown requires some serious combat skills. By the time I get to Hollywood, my sheet is a mess.

- None of those goddamn head-with-arms things.

- Better character customization.

- Difficulty settings.

And so on. There was a group of lunatics redoing the entire game on a newer engine, but the property owners threatened lawsuits, etc..

Finished SR3. And I now hate "Holding Out For A Hero." I used to be okay with it. But now? If you ever read an article detailing how an angry man beat the living shit out of Bonnie Tyler, then...it won't be me. Instead of assaulting celebrities, I prefer to seethe until I'm popping Pepcids like M&M's.

And, entirely in keeping with the notion that King Crimson is my earthly punishment (except perhaps for "Epitaph," "In the court of the Crimson King," and "Matte Kudasai"), the end credits song sampled from "21st Century Schizoid Man."

The offending song in question is "Power," by none other than the biggest dipshit on the planet, Kanye West.

In other news, I'm still wondering whether I should buy Dragon Age Inquisition, or a good pair of pants. I'm leaning towards the pants.

Regarding Dragon Age Inquisition I'd say, go for the pants. At Christmas Origin had it with minus 20%. On the Valentine -30% (I don't see the link between Dragon Age and Valentine but... whatever). With some luck they should hit -50% soon which will begin to go into what I'd called a barely reasonable price considering the DA2 flop and the reviews so far. My guess is, they will wait for the release of The Witcher 3 in May and curiously they'll have a big discount ready. For now there's no real competition so they don't feel the need.

I bought the pants. Really working out for me.

I'm definitely waiting for a sale, as $60+ for a game -- especially a sequel to a relative flop -- is not even worth considering. (Okay, maybe the next TES or Fallout game is worth it. Maybe.)

Okay, there must've been something in those maple longjohns this morning, because I just realized that the rest of my post should've been in another thread entirely. And I just mangled the spelling of "should've" so badly that I should probably just give up English entirely before more innocent contractions die.

As a notice: opening Origin today they propose me Inquisition with 40% off (but it's only the normal version, not the collector). That puts the game in the price range of DA2 when I bought it as a pre-order. Still, I hesitate. Funny what a previous flop (not to mention the botched ME3 ending) can do to make you ultra cautious.

So I'll toss a coin on this one. Heads I buy... tails I wait for an even better offer...

Yep, of course it does... first toss and the coin ended up under the couch...

OK so second toss and... heads. I guess I'll have to go with my decision... Although I'm still not convinced.
